Concord, Contra Costa County
Mount Diablo rises to 3,849 feet just south of Concord and can be seen from nearly every street in the city. The town itself began in 1869 as Todos Santos, laid out by the Pacheco family around a plaza that is still the center of downtown. Jazz pianist Dave Brubeck was born in Concord in 1920.
